Government will not finance aeroplane sheet rates: Minister

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi pronounced a supervision would not finance tickets for scheduled blurb airline services.

“There will be no (subsidizing of aeroplane tickets),” Budi pronounced on a sidelines of a coordination assembly of a ministry’s Director General of Sea Transportation on Monday.

But a Minister of Transportation has appealed to airlines to yield sundry prices and affordable rates for a community.

The Ministry of Transportation has formerly released Ministerial Decree series 20/2019, concerning procession and plan of roof sheet cost for economy category newcomer of domestic moody and Ministerial Decree Number 72/2019, concerning roof cost for domestic economy category passenger.

Under ministerial direct series 20/2019, a building cost that was creatively 30 percent from a roof cost becomes 35 percent of a top extent tariff.

The law is directed during avoiding tariff fight among airlines, that for a past 5 years have been competing to set a lowest tariff.

However, with a reduce limit, a airline can't set a lowest cost as before, since a lowest cost has been increasing by 5 percent, generally for low-cost carriers (LCC).

For this reason, a Minister of Transportation has asked airlines to offer discounts to a public, so as to not overtax them.

A series of airlines that are charity discounts are Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air, including discounts adult to 50 percent, though for a singular time period.
