Bogor terrorist plotted May-22 attack in front of KPU building

Cibinong, Bogor (ANTARA) – The terrorist detained on May 17, in Bogor, West Java, wanted to detonate a bomb in front of the General Election Commission (KPU) Building, Jakarta, on May 22, 2019, the election results’ announcement day.
Public Relations Division Head of Police, Police Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo made the statement during a press release.

“The target is two. The first target is ‘thogut’ while the second target is on May 22 in front of the KPU,” he remarked during the press release at the crime scene of the arrest of terror suspect E alias AR, 51, in Naggewer, Bibinong Sub-district, Bogor District, Saturday, May 18.

Prasetyo noted that terrorists might be looking to exploit the fanfare of mass movements to Jakarta on May 22 to further their insidious plans.

“The momentum is used by terrorist groups to inform them that their groups still exist,” Prasetyo pointed out

During a search conducted on a terrorist’s house in Bogor, the police recovered six explosive pipe bombs as well as a pan bomb being assembled. According to Prasetyo, the seven bombs were to be detonated on May 22, 2019.

“The basic ingredients for their bombs are bought online and in chemical stores,” he stated.

After the press release at the crime scene of the arrest, the police planned to diffuse a bomb that was ready to explode on an empty land around the Pakansari Stadium in Cibinong Sub-District, Bogor District.

It was reported that Detachment 88, along with the Bogor Police, had detained a terror suspect, allegedly a member of the ISIS network, at his residence in Nanggewer, Cibinong Sub-district, Bogor District, on Friday, May 17, evening.
