Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Bank Indonesia predicted that business is brisker in the first quarter of 2017 than in the last quarter of 2016.
The business increase is thanks to improved performance of the agriculture, plantation, animal husbandry, forestry and fishery sectors following harvest season in the beginning of the year.
The result of survey issued here on Wednesday by the Central Bank showed improvements in the manufacturing industry, and mining and quarrying sector.
The increase in the business activities is reflected by an increase in the weighted net balance (SBT) to 6.73 percent as shown by the result of the survey.
“The business performance in the agricultural, plantation, animal husbandry , forestry and fishery sector was reflected by the SBT that improved to -0.51 percent from -4.07 percent,” the survey said.
The processing industry is expected to have an SBT of 2.98 percent in the first quarter of 2017, up from 1.44 percent in the last quarter of 2016.
Meanwhile, the SBT of mining business improved to -1.08 percent from -1.82 percent .
The survey by the Central Bank also said that business revival in the first quarter of 2017 would open more jobs . The SBT of labor recruitment in the first quarter of 2017 rose to 0.43 percent with more jobs open especially in the trade, hotel and restaurant sector.
“Amid the phase of contraction, more jobs are open in the mining quarry sector, manufacturing industry, agricultural, plantation, forestry and fishery sector,” the survey showed.
Ban Indonesia, therefore, predicted that the selling price pressure would rise in the first quarter of 2017 especially in the trade, hotel and restaurant sector with SBT of 3.9 percent , the agricultural , animal husbandry, forestry and fishery sector with SBT of 3.22 percent and manufacturing industry with SBT of 2.56 percent.
